It can. Emotional and psychological trauma can trigger certain feelings and it can ultimately lead to depression. You may feel anxiety, fear, shock, sad, or hopeless and this can cause severe depression.

Depression can be caused by sad events, only these events happen to all of us to a certain extent. Sadness is a natural human feeling caused by different situations (loss of a lost one, not getting tje job you wanted, etc.) but depression is different. I advise you to watch Kevin Breel's Ted Talk on depression in which he says that depression is being sad when everything is ok. It's an amazing speech which helped me out a lot as well! :)

Yes, it can. Not all times though. But sometimes, depression is cause by things that happen around us. Something that has a great impact over us. It could be anything, really. There isn't a list of events. Something that's traumatic for one may not be the same for another. It generally depends on the person and what they go through.

I personally know a few people who have developed depression from a traumatic event. So the answer is yes, it's a depression and it needs to be dealt.

Yes, that's possible. When something bad happened to someone and he suffers, he/she can get depressive.
But there are also other flashpoints of depression. It is important for them to know that their depression is not their own fault and it is also seriously.
Another factor of depression are genetic endowments.
Normally there come many points together: experience, genes, personality, ...

Yes, absolutely. Experiencing traumatic events can trigger all different kinds of reactions for different people, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and self harm. Traumatic events make us feel unsafe; chronically feeling this way can exacerbate any number of health issues.

Yes. Depression can be a result of tramatic events. For an instant, imagine losing every of your family member, in a car accident or due to an earth quake, every time you'll see an accident or hear about it, you'll have that scene flashed back infront of you, raising anxieties, and at times if you're very sensitive or emotional, you're more likely to be depressed.

Indeed, people that have had a trauma in the past, may feel like after that, nothing will ever be the same again

Yes, of course. These two can be heavily linked, and sit together hand in hand. If you feel you're suffering from depression after a traumatic event, I'd recommend seeing your doctor, if you're comfortable and he might be better at helping you out. There are also depression self help guides here on the website that may be of some use to you :}
