I read the book ‘I had a black dog: his name was depression’. It’s a really short book with large illustrations and I found it really gave me something to think about. I read it a year or so ago and I still think about it quite often. The book personifies depression and makes it seem manageable. It doesn’t provide a miracle cure or grand advice on how to combat depression it simply describes one persons experience and how they LIVE with depression. It doesn’t make a point of getting over it and acknowledges that it may always be there but still gives you the sense that it’s something that can be managed
