We all find it hurtful when others don't respect us, and sadly the use of language is the most basic and common way to offend another person. Vulgar words used against someone feels as though they have been branded with that hateful word, that the receiving person is categorized under a filthy word. Nobody deserves to be branded with such words and that is why we find it so terrible to be labelled with such words, as we don't deserve to be.

You feel hurt because you are human. Nobody likes being offended and nobody deserves to be offended. Avoid believing what they say. You gotta be on your side, not on theirs.

Because you have feelings. It's natural to feel that way and it's perfectly fine to cry! You're only human.

Because you take their words too personal. Always remember: only your opinion about yourself matters. People tend to offend others when they feel unhappy, so their words are not objective and usually describe their own pain.

A possible reason why you might be feeling this way is because you are not used to this kind of language and the sheer aggressive nature of offensive language is overwhelming. It is called offensive language because the particular words are not meant for positive thinking.

It often branches from a low self-esteem. There could be any amount of reasons, but that seems like the most common one. But it's important not to let negative comments toward us be a reflection of us, because it reflects poorly on the person saying them.

When people are horrible to us we can sometimes project the things that the person abusing us has said to ourselves, It may be worthwhile establishing a boundary that this behaviour is unacceptable if the behaviour is consistent. Seeking support from someone who speaks to us more positively can boost our mood and give us a sense of happiness after these challenging situations.
