You can ask them why they are starting rumours that are effecting you negatively or be vengeful. I find that both methods both have cons. You must decide what your end goal is and work backwards to find the best solution for you.

Let my actions speak louder than those rumors that are being passed. Not letting those rumors, also, not affect me and not get into my head to make me feel down or upset.

I dont care, because rumors are rumors, if you show that you care, people might actually think its teue, because you showed so muc intrest in it, if you simply ignore it, people will too, your reputation is in your hands not theirs, so if they started a rumor, trust me , people will know its a rumor, you just need to feel confident about yourself and not care
