Because you might feel as if you lost a big part of yourself. It's hard. It's someone you love, and care for so, it's hard.

It hurts because you're a human being and capable of love. When you love somebody, you can't switch off your feelings just like that. Even if you're the one wanting the breakup, it's still okay to grieve that relationship, because there's always a reason why you have been together with somebody in the first place.

Because you are loosing someone that you loved. You slowly start giving pieces of your heart to another person, and rip them in front of you.

Because you have invested not only your time and energy into the relationship but your love, heart and soul. You have come to rely on the other person being there for you. Then all of a sudden its like you have lost the other half of yourself.

Because we become attached and someone dependent on the person. Also because we grow used to having them around and when suddenly we don't it's a whole lifestyle change that you have to suddenly adapt to. You're losing someone who was a part of your life, who know you in ways others didn't. It's only human to be hurt over a breakup. Time heals all wounds though, just remember that.

Breaking up is a part of life and it hurts because it mattered. When you care about something in life sometimes it doesn't always work out the way you want it to, but you have to trust that the lows will only make the highs in life better!

Because moving on hurts. It's harder if you don't have closure and you keep asking yourself "Why?" As someone once said (the name escapes me)..."It hurt because it mattered." One chapter of your life is done, but there's a whole book to be written so don't let that stop you from being happy.
