Being with someone for a significant amount of time and then suddenly they leave can leave one feeling confused and off balance. The thing to remember is that one day, everything will get better and you will be back to you.

Your love for a person don't change, it hurts because you still have feeling for them but it didn't work because you have a chance to keep looking.

It hurts so much because it signifies our human capacity to care to such an extent. We often feel rejected at first, but it's like with anything, if you give it your all it's going to hurt if you don't "win". Feeling like that don't last forever, but they are necessary to experience so we can only grow to be much stronger.

The reason I believe breaking up hurts so much is because you were with this person for a long time. During this time they have became a part of you. You make memories and go places together and they are special for the both of you and after a break up it is not the same. You have to avoid those places because they make you think of that person. Getting over the person is harder the longer and more serious the relationship was too.

People don't think to cherish the good times and focus on how the relationship has helped them grow as much as just the pain they're experiencing at that time. And that's perfectly fine. These things take time...
