Breaking up signifies the end of something you nurtured once and nobody likes to see something they nurtured die. That process hurts and its okay to let it hurt for a while. Healing will only truly come about when one is ready to accept that death and move on from it.

I believe breaking up hurts because you gave your time to someone that you liked, made efforts to get together, and in some cases gave them your heart. Breaking up feels like they are saying that they don't see a reason to fight for the relationship or that they may have never truly cared. All break ups are different but someone ends up being hurt in the process.

That's what we call a heart-break, which can extend to a much bigger thing.
