Why can love not just be simple?

I guess love is the most simplest emotion that can be felt by any living being. I also feel that its the added weights of expectations that makes it complex. Love comes naturally and in the most unconventional ways to us and that is the reason I think its the simplest and one of the raw-est emotion one can feel for anyone. Once the simple part is done, starts the spiraling of contradictions, expectations, reasons, questions that just complexes out the emotion. You love someone, you start expecting them to love you with the same intensity and that is something beyond control. Love isnt something something that can be measured. Its free and free is simple.
