The best way to stop caring is just to not talk to them at all and to block all contact with them and then eventually you will forget about
them

Concentrate on yourself. Be aware when you're projecting on them and idolizing them. Treat yourself good and just look you have a good and productive time until the time gets by. Feelings need some time to fade.

Distract yourself from them. Do things you love and things you are good at and try not to think too much about them. As time passes, you will be able to stop caring for them.
Caring about someone who doesn't care about you kills you, honestly. But don't hate them, they might have their own reasons.

More than not caring about them, it would be a good idea to understand why they don't care about you and be okay with it. It's not a competition of not caring. Your feelings are yours and their feelings are theirs.. It is not necessary that you behave the same way that they do.. choose what's best for you. Be the most compassionate person you can be and walk away from negativity. Don't spread it..

Cut them out of your life, cold turkey, and immerse yourself in something new and positive instead. I know this might sound super difficult and in some cases almost impossible.
But if you care about them despite this not being reciprocated, there's probably no other way to stop caring but forget about them and focus on something (or someone) else.
