I think that it is okay to continue caring about someone. You will never truly forget about someone. But it is okay to rid that person from your life especially if the individual is not good for you. So the best way to do that is to focus on you goals in life and aspirations.

Forgetting someone isn't easy, especially if they made a impact on you and effect you emotionally. i don't think you can ever forget. But the best way of moving forward from these set of emotions is to step back and distance yourself. With that in mind you will then be able to gradually stop feeling so emotionally connected to that person i.e when it comes to caring. Hope that helped.

Give it time. Think about why you care about them so much and also remind yourself why they aren’t good for you either.

Distance, awareness and rid all memorabilia. Distance yourself, rid all pictures, numbers and reminders. Consult your support system about this person. Be aware of why this is not a good situation for yourself, engage in things that are good for you. Things that you have been neglecting like exercise, school, work, previous interest.
