Start with talking about something you know you have in common. (EX: Isn't Ms.Briggs so annoying?!)Then start asking about their favorite things (books, movies, tv shows, etc) and once you hit a common interest keep talking! If that topic fades away, keep asking and answering more questions.

Well, at first just start with random things like "What time is it?" "It's raining, lol", whatever fits you, and then once you've stablished an everyday conversation, try finding things you have in common. Casually mention a band or something you like, maybe he likes it too! Just imagine you're talking with one of your friends: That will do the thing :) Hope this helped!
