Well, in my opinion you should be nice about telling her how you feel. There is a limit of pushing it with your words. Try to make it a plain and simple answer. The longer the answer is, the more overwhelming it might be for her to read. Perhaps, think of it as you reading it instead of her. You'll understand once you try it.

Tell her the truth, there's no need in lying to make someone feel better. If you are, just admit it.

My question to your girlfriend would be to ask why she needs to know that? Does she still have feelings for you? Does she have regrets? Be honest with your ex girlfriend and tell her how you feel. There is no right or wrong answer in this question. If you want to be with her then tell her you still care and that what you had was special, if you believe the breakup was for the best then that’s also something you need to share with her. Tell her your time together was amazing and that your not over her but that you realise it was for the best and your learning to live with it

The only person who would know the answer to this is you. You need to ask yourself if you were truly happy being in a relationship with this person. There are instances where couples reconcile after years of being apart. Depending on how long you guys have been apart, it would be a good idea to think about whether you should get involved with this person again, or if you both have changed/grown since initially ending it...that being said.. communication is key! Just talk it out with her and be sincere so that you can either start to work things out or let each other go.
