It depends what you want to forget. Some things you have to know you might never be able to forget no matter how hard you try. You just have to learn to live with it. Try changing some things in your life to make it more positive and to make you more happy! Try some new hobbies, make some new friends, etc.

Feeling sad and going to bed can be a great thing. You expect to wake up feeling refreshed and in a better mood. It is horrible when you wake up and still feel sad. I've been there. I know what it's like to go to bed sad and to wake up sad and it is one of the worst times for me. But, what helped me may be able to help others. I started to empty my mind before I went to bed. Either I would write my feelings down or meditate. Meditation has helped me greatly. There are many tools for meditating here and online. It may be able to help, even just a little bit.

Forgetting traumatic and scarring events won't help.
Often the mark they make are so scarred into our being, it becomes a part of who we are.
However, use that experience to grow...to be compassionate...to understand your heart.
When things get rough, find some one to talk to...seek help and don't hide.
Understanding and accepting that you can't do it alone is a huge mark of strength--you are accepting that you want to recover.
The tattoos left on our soul from past experiences tell a story...and though we cannot remove them, we can empower our future and our actions. We can guide others...we can learn, teach, and mentor.
Don't allow it to rule you--but rather find empowerment...you survived...beautiful and wonderful you...you are here and though you may not feel it, you are strong.

Meditate on your heart chakra when you wake up. Use the mantra : I am enough, I have enough, I am doing enough.
Alternately, picture yourself in your own secret garden. Your bare feet on the grass, soaking up mother nature's goodness. Embrace the sun's warmth. Breathe. Take in all the goodness, exhale the bad.

In order to forget you must first accept it. You wake up sad, it's okay : you won't remain sad forever. Be accepting your feelings.

I think that today will be better than yesterday. I will accept the sadness at night and try to figure out what is going on and what is really wrong. So when I wake up, my sadness dissapear and I could be doing something today with full of spirit and faith.
