After a year of no contact, my ex recently has started messaging me casually and he recently told me that he will probably never get over me. We broke up over religious reasons. Should i try again?

I'm one of the people who believe love can with everything. If you broke up for religious reasons, it means that you disagree on that aspect, but I don't think it is a very important reason to break your relationship. For me the most important thing in a relationship is that there is a connection between the two people, that there is good communication, that they support each other and are there when they need it, that there is trust and of course, honesty and loyalty. I think if in a relationship there is all that, it's really worth it.

This is a common one.
The short answer to this is; If you two can get over those religious conflicts and leave them behind you and prioritize love over belief, Both of you are okay with how the relationship will work, I.e. Eating specific foods, prayers etc and as it is in any relationship, if both of you are dedicated to make it work, then the answer is Yes. A year is a long time and alot could've changed between you during this time, so my recommendation is that you become friends and hangout with each other for some time so both of you are sure that you still love each other and want to be together with you, If not it might happen that you break up again and the situation will become even worse. If you do try again, it is important that you take that previous conflict into consideration and try to work towards making a deal together, and making an agreement on something that will work, and that can be possibly anything; I.e; Practicing religious beliefs in private, doing them together or not doing them at all. It's completely up to you. Stay safe, and goodluck!
