I think professional help could be benefitial and shouldn't be dismissed. Because Bipolar is a complex issue that could be treated with more ease if it was roperly diagnosed by a medical professional and if it was treated with the prescribed medication as well as therapy. Not saying there aren't things a person can do to help themselves, there are certainly a lot of factors that can contribute to mental health, but a combination of both personal actions and effort as well as seeking professional help might be more beneficial as it provides potentially good outcomes from two fronts. One can help fulfill the other.

This is a great question and thanks for asking it! While bipolar disorder can certainly be helped with experience and mental discipline, as I call it, there's often no substitute for medication for this illness. I strongly recommend anyone with severe mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia to have regular visits with mental health professionals for therapy and medication management. I have experience with this having bipolar disorder myself and sticking to a strict medication regimen as prescribed combined with trying my best to maintain good habits such as proper sleep hygiene, exercise, diet, and therapy both via a professional or a listener are all vital tools in helping me live a very fulfilling and positive life. Best of luck to you!
