It's normal to fear the unknown. It's the body's natural reaction to facing something new. We must try to face new experiences with an open mind and positivity in order to avoid the negative emotion of nervousness.

Because we don't know what to expect or if it will work out how we're imagining. If it's new, we can't expect what it'll be like.

this is super common and completely understandable. the reason is that we are dealing with the unfamiliar, and fear/caution about the unknown was an important survival strategy during the hunter-gatherer ages. if you stick to what is safe and familiar, you are more likely to survive. now in this day and age, trying something new generally doesn't get you killed, but your brain's instinct is to be cautious, which is why you're nervous.

The reason why we feel nervous when we are encountering something new is because of the fear of the unknown. As people, we ultimately are used to what we know and it's how we view this 'new' thing. In life, there are times where we all have to encounter new activities, jobs and people. There's also different types of anxieties such as the fear of the unknown, what if it doesn't go well, what if I mess up. Which are all rational fears, but at the same time we all live our lives trying to do better for ourselves and confronting the unknown is one of those things. Mostly, it's because it's something we haven't experienced before and it's down to people we haven't met before but sometimes going in open-minded can make sure that you would be able to learn and take things that you wouldn't have otherwise. New can be scary, but also eye-opening as well.

We feel nervous before starting something new because the brain works this way. We as human beings are more comfortable with the known because we then know what to expect, what to do, how to survive. When something new is going to happen, it is something unknown to our brain. So it needs to inform itself again about what to expect, what to do and how to survive. The good news is, you will survive most of the times. That's how I learnt that being nervous is okay and you are absolutely allowed to, but that it isn't something to lead you through life. Because by getting through this nervousness, you will experience and learn A LOT. So go do it. Who knows what might happen.
