This has happened to me quite a lot times... I have figured it out that usually it is my insecurities, fear about future and the search for meaning in life that makes me feel that.

Because the unknown is unknown, and we fear anything that is unknown because we have no action plan ready, no backup plan waiting. Our brain, with all the amazing things it can do, is also silly to the point of thinking if we think hard enough, spend enough time pondering about something, eventually, we'll find the answer. So that's what it does, when the night is quiet and you're left with only your own company, wandering around in your head thinking about all the things you'll never know.

Nighttime is typically when we are most alone with our thoughts. We are typically laying in bed, trying to go to sleep, which involves clearing our mind and relaxing. When we do this, we open our mind to the thoughts that couldn't find their way into our heads throughout the day.

Racing thoughts at night might be a sign of something bothering you. Writing down your thoughts before bed may be a way to release some of the preassures from thoughts

Nigh time is very quiet, so there is nothing distracting your mind, so you can easily get caught up in thinking about the unknown. Also, now knowing what is going to happen can be worrying because we have no control over what happens in the future.

The unknown is a fascinating topic. Perhaps lean into curiosity and acceptance regarding the unknown instead of trying to know the unknown.

We all worry about that which we have no control over :)
Maybe you are more prone to worrying about losing control since you might value being in control over an adventure.

You may have insomnia which keeps you from getting a good nights rest, or it is possible that you are just not tired and naturally tend to have your mind wander because there is nothing else to keep you distracted. This may also be a side-affect of ADHD or ADD.

I struggle with this. It's because you are a curious person who wants to know, and this isn't a bad thing, however it's not very nice when it keeps you awake. My advice is to speak to a doctor, and tell them the problem. Hope this helps :)

I do this sometimes. Answers to life, making myself feel sad for no reason, sometimes even just telling stories in my head until I fall asleep. I think everyone has this happen to them at least a few times. Perhaps its because your mind has nothing else to do but reach out to the most primal of thoughts; 'What is the unknown?'

If you are programmed to think that we are evolved from evolution, then that is a perfectly normal way to think. If by chance you are willing to consider a benevolent deity, then you wont have to wonder.

Because the unknown is scary, and at night when our bodies turn off we have time to think about what we don't know. What we don't know can hurt us, so it's completely natural to think about it.

You stay up at night thinking about the unknown because the mind is very curious. Organizing these thoughts can be difficult but it is possible! Focus on one thing at a time and work your way through.

Night is a time of day when our brains can become very active. The unknown is a big subject, and can hold us captive as we're trying to relax. I find when I'm having thoughts like these, it's really helpful for me to write down what I'm thinking about!

Your brain can get ahead of you-and fast. It could be linked to anxiety, more or less, it's just your brain way of coping with life. You overthink and think tell there's a bold simple answer. Ambiguity is not your friend nor your enemy.

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
