It's not really a question as to why you have anxiety because if you are talking about the disorder type of anxiety, it's something you were born with, unless it's PTSD typed anxiety, but that's another story. Anxiety disorders have been linked to genetics, although scientists are not sure yet if it is completely genetic. However, if you are talking about the emotion of anxiety, you could be looking at a few different reasons for having it. The best way to see why you are feeling the symptoms of anxiety is looking at your stressors in life. You might not even feel stressed out about something like an event coming up or a public speaking or something like that, however, it could be affecting your subconscious, causing anxiety. Other things include recent life changing or traumatic events, due dates and other sources of pressure, or humiliation/embarrassment might be your cause of anxiety.

Anxiety is a kind of alarm to make you safe in case of danger at its base but the problem is that in our actual lives, we are more in mental danger (stress) than anything else so we get more and more anxious. Sometimes the anxiety response is disproportionate especially if you are a sensitive person or if you are tired. Relaxation, meditation, therapy can then help.
