Unfortunately, depression and anxiety often go hand in hand. They are not exclusive; people can have depression, anxiety, or both. Anxiety and overthinking of an issue can lead to negative thoughts that bring on depressive thoughts or modes of thinking. The two often create a vicious cycle that is extremely unhealthy, but it varies from person to person where that cycle can be broken.

Depression and anxiety often run hand-in-hand, so it's very common for someone with depression to struggle with anxiety and vice versa. As well as that, depression and anxiety can kind of feed off of each other in a way that when the depression worsens, the anxiety will to as a response to that. Personally, I've experienced anxiety and depression at the same time and it can be really hard when you're lacking motivation and every day is super difficult, and then the anxiety also makes it harder because then you're starting to overthink everything. Unfortunately depression and anxiety are pretty much best friends.
