Imagery, relaxation and deep breathing. Everytime you see a flow of negative thoughts coming, start breathing in and out. Close your eyes and relax.

If you are experiencing these negative thoughts about the past, what you may be suffering from is known as Rumination which is quite common. There are many techniques out there to help with this, and finding the one that works best for you is something that you should invest some time into.
A long-term way of dealing with this may be attempting to understand why it is that you have these almost automatic negative thoughts, talking about it or seeking a professional's assistance may help with this.

There is a good guide about that here on 7cups, inside de Emotional Management guide. Sumarizing what it is said there, a good way to slowly reduce your negative thoughts is, when you realize you have had one, write down what it was about. Then write what you could think instead (try something a bit more positive), and finally think how you felt with the first thought, and how you feel with the second.
The point is to slowly stop those thoughts from being automatic, by realizing there are alternatives.
For further and more detailed information, please check the Managing Emotions guide.

Think of something that makes you very happy. Ignore all those negative thoughts because it can and will get better if you think about different things.

The best way to get over negative automatic thoughts would to replace them with positive thoughts "artificially". It is important to recognise these thoughts and turn the tables around to become more positive/less extreme thoughts. While it is impossible to stop these thoughts from appearing, it is possible to limit their impact on you. Practise it more and visualise it, by penning it down on paper and with more practices, you will be able to "get over" your negative automatic thoughts. :)

Try to replace them with positive thoughts, as hard as that may be. Try to challenge yourself and think positive.

Respond with a positive second thought. There's an expression that says that the first thought you have is the one you've been conditioned to have, and the second one shows who you really are.

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
