How about using a pen and a piece of paper at first? You could write down these thoughts as they come to you and just observe them. Try to mention what events usually cause such thoughts. It can be helpful as well to note the hour of the day, so that you understand better when you are feeling more vulnerable. Talking to a person whom you trust can also help you cope with this situation. They can be a friend or a family member, you decide. You can have their phone number handy and call them when you need to. You can also try to write down and label your feelings each time an irrational thought comes to your mind, but remind to yourself that these feelings shouldn't affect your view of things as they really are.

Hello,
I would suggest using mindfulness and working on defusion (ACT- Steven Hayes). I would not advise you to try to coutner them, reframe them or in any way mnipulate them, because this can only give them even more attention. So, imagine they are like a radio, running in a background all the time and let them be. This is the quickest and lest pathological way to deal with such thoughts.
Do not worry, if the thoughts and very strong or many in number, just practice daily mindfulness and develop a sense of distance and seperation from them. Just observe them with distant curiosity.

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
