Focus you mind on your breath. Take a few minutes to breathe in and slowly breathe out. It might also help to write your thoughts down so your brain does not need to go through it anymore. Doing physical activities will also help.

There are times when we seem to not be able to stop thinking about every single thing that has happened to us, in the very same day or years ago. We even anticipate what might happen tomorrow or within months and years. When this happens to me, I usually take my time to sit back and relax. I listen to music that helps me think of nothing but a peaceful environment, or go out to take a stroll taking my iPod with me. You learn to live in the moment.

The more you try to not think about it the more you will think about it.So i think that we should just let the mind do its job.we as human beings cant multitask so if you doing some work or something you like then your mind will be focused on that thing. The best way to stop the thoughts is to listen or play music because then your mind will be concentrated on the music, the lyrics and trying to make sense of the music thats going on so it will stop thinking about other things
