The first step to letting go is accepting that the fear is there. The past cannot be changed so there is no use in worrying how it impacts you now. Work with your current situation and simply do the best you can. Acknowledging fear and being okay with it gives it less power to control your life.

Fear will decrease with the more successful and positive experiences you make with the thing you are afraid of. Avoiding it will increase your anxiety. But you have to be willing to face the difficult, anxiety-causing event step by step. You can even make a plan, if you feel safer that way. Just make sure to get started and start to face it step by step. You will see that you will make progress and even gain new experience. Your fear will learn that it can decrease naturally that way. Fear is there to protect you, but if it´s fear that interferes with your life, you need to make an effort to show your fear that it is not needed anymore.

It is really hard to let go of fear. For me, it was realizing that it was impacting my life in a negative way and reaching out for additional help because I realized that I couldn't do it alone. Eventually, I learned that my fears and the outcomes were not as out of my control as they once were and I could take steps to prevent them from taking over. There are other things that I wanted to do more than I wanted to hold on to my fears.

I let go of fear by using breathing exercises, which calm me down and help me focus on what the fear has impacted on my life. The anxiety is reduced with the breathing exercise as well, which helps with levelheadedness and a clear mind. Then, I focus on whatever made me feel fear in the first place and try to solve the problem with a reasonable answer.

You have to move forward from it. That's better said than done, though. Forget about the past, find things in the present that make you happy, and with those happy things, look forward to the future.
