Anxiety can come on whether you are alone or with a group of people. Sometimes it can be caused by a trigger, such as someone accidentally scaring you, other times it can come on just to come on.
The former is not always something to be worried about unless it causes more severe symptoms like panic attacks. When anxiety comes on and you're alone, try to think if something caused it. If it happens regularly, and you cannot think of anything, there may be an underlying reason for it. In this case, talking to a counselor for a few sessions may help the anxiety.

It depends on the situation, but I feel better when I'm with my most trusted people when I'm in big social situations.

Yes. When you're alone you just start thinking, well more like assuming things and then you jump into conclusions and well let's just say it's best if you talk with someone or do something to distract yourself from thinking.

Yes it is. When you are alone...you are alone with your thoughts. The more we think and stress the more anxious we feel. Distraction can help. Read a book. Do a puzzle. Make some cookies....

Yes, it is normal. When you are anxious you have a fear that something dangerous will happen, so if you are around people you feel safer than alone (:

Well I think it's subjective. Anxiety occurs and manifests differently for everyone. There's no real way to determine when it is normal or abnormal to feel anxiety because everyone experiences it as a result of different things or factors. But on a general note I would say it is not unusual to feel anxious when you're alone. It gives you a lot of room and time to think about all the things that are bothering you, which could thus lead to feelings of anxiousness.

For some people yes, some find it hard tobe around lots of people so they may deal with social anxiety, but it can be exactly the same the other away around, sometimes with certain activities like driving or shopping, or even maybe just being home alone.

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
