The fear of enclosed or croweded spaces is normal for people with anxiety, and trains can get very cramped during rush hour. This closeness can definitely trigger anxiety. As well as this, if the train is underground, the enclosed atmosphere can contribute to the feeling of claustrophobia. I don't think it's the train itself that causes fear for anxious individuals, but rather the feeling of being trapped inside a crowded container moving at such a high speed that escape is impossible. Anybody would feel anxious in a situation like that!

There is no such thing as normal. "Normal" is just a word people use to compare themselves to others. Your experience is your own. Trust it. If you fear trains, and you are not okay with that, it doesn't matter if it's normal or not. What matters is addressing your feelings and fears. Regardless of what you fear, do not fear yourself.

People with anxiety and panic attacks are often afraid of trains or buses, because they are closed and may be full of people. This can easily lead to a panic attack, above all if you suffer of social anxiety. So, it's totally normal...I understand you. However, this fear can be overcome.

Sure. Not everyone is afraid of trains, but it's a fear people may have. I'm afraid of cars personally. I'm scared we are going to get in a car crash :(

Yes, having anxiety and being prone to panic attacks might cause you to be afraid of public transportation in general, especially trains/planes where you might be unsure about what to do if you get a panic attack where there's no stop. What's important to remember is that it's not the end of the world if you indeed do have a panic attack or get close to it. By this day and age it's no longer something taboo or embarrassing, people have seen it before and you will get through it just fine; and the more you travel by whichever scares you, and get confirmed you're fine by the end of your travels, the less afraid you'll be.

It depends on what the anxiety and panic attacks are triggered by, but yes it could be normal. Trains are very fast, loud, and can be extremely dangerous. Those, and others, are things that could cause someone anxiety.
