I can’t stop thinking about my cat dying. Everything I think about how much I love him I immediately think about him being taken away from me. He can’t live forever. How can I stop thinking this??

I think that the fact that you recognize he can’t live forever is important and part of beginning to accept that he is gone but although he is gone he is in a better place. It’s normal to think about your cat dying especially if you guys had a long and close relationship. I understand how much you loved him I really do, animals can be like family for us and when we lose them it’s devastating but the most important thing to remember is that you gave them a good life and when they died they remembered you and they love you, in there very last moments they loved you more than anything.

I believe that your love for your cat shows you are a nurturing and loving person. It is normal to feel worry for the ones that you care about the most. You and your cat have a special bond and it is understandable that the idea of losing something you love is a challenging one. Loss is something that happens to us all, however if you feel like you are becoming consumed by the feeling perhaps taking a look at the anxiety and grief guide would be helpful. The guide could help at understanding why you are feeling consumed by these emotions and help you better understand how you can help yourself manage these feelings.
