Telling you to control your thoughts or diverting your energy is useless advice. One thing perfect which is perfect is chilling out? Giving yourself a break from whatever you're thinking? Stop finding solutions to something you feel incapable to solve. Its okay. We're only humans. Just cut yourself some slack. Don't question about how, when and what happened that put you in this anxiety. Because the truth is, the answer is unknown and you don't have to be stuck up on it until you find a definitive solution. Just let it go because its to hot and messy and no, it is not your job to worry about it day and night. In short, walk away.

I try to focus on the matter at hand, instead of all the ways I could mess it up. It helps me stay positive.

Distract yourself. That's the only immediate solution. Try to calm yourself down if you feel yourself tensing up, imagine yourself in a different area. It's different for everybody.

Distract yourself with something you love doing. This could be anything, riding a skateboard, watching a movie, talking to a friend. Personally, I find listening to music very helpful.

Try distracting yourself! If you feel yourself starting to think about it, listen to music or read a book/magazine. You could also try video games or watching a tv show, playing a game. Anything really that will keep your attention away from your head.

One of the biggest things about anxiety is loss of breath, so instead of focusing on how anxious you feel focus on taking deep breaths. The more you focus on your breathing the less you will focus on the anxiety that you're feeling at that time.

Often it's helpful to have a range of activities that do not cause anxiety that you can use as a distraction eg. Watching a favourite show or reading a book. It is also helpful to build up relationships with others who are supportive but are not just about helping you manage your anxiety so just regular friendships.
