It is really amazing to hear that you want to be open with your parents about your panic attacks. I know that talking to your parents about emotional things can be really challenging sometimes. I would be as honest as you can be. Say it as it is. If I was you I would maybe say something like: "I have been having panic attacks. I really just wanted to tell you." If you need something from them to help you, you can add that in there as well. As always, remembering to say things simply for better communication is helpful. If they are having trouble understanding what panic attacks are or how to deal with them or just want more information you could give them this link or check it out yourself: https://www.7cups.com/panic-attacks-help-online/ . I hope that telling them of your struggle with panic attacks starts or continues you on a journey of healing.

You let them down easily. You have to communicate with them on a personal level. And tell them it's hard for both of you.

Sit them down and ask them if anyone in your family has had these experiences. Sometimes, we can avoid things if people around us have gone through it. If they haven't then explain what you have been going through.

I think being open and honest is the easiest way :) it's nothing to be ashamed of. Pick a good time, eg- not when dad gets home from a bad day at work. And just tell them you have something to tell them and then just go ahead, take deep breaths and just tell them " I've been having panic attacks, and I'm reaching out for help because I trust you"

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
