Tell them to shut up and stand up for yourself. Maybe talk to a doctor and they’ll give you medication to stop them

It's not about stopping the thoughts, or voices in our heads.
It's about support.
Thought comes.
Do I support it?
Do I want to support this?
Is it a good thought from my perspective?
Yes or No.
If Yes, you feed it attention.
If No, You shift focus on some good thing, some good thought, some good idea, some good image, or simply on "being aware" state, or on breathing (which is a meditative state, denying focus to all thoughts)
It's like in a car.
You don't want to stop those gauges from working :D
You want feedback, You want to see where the road leads, You want that information.
Good thoughts (good from your perspective) => signify a good road, a good direction.
Bad thoughts signify a bad road, bad direction.
Use thoughts as information, and give your attention and focus only to what's good (from your perspective)

This very much depends on the sorts of voices you are referring to. If you are referring to a voice you know isn't a real voice then you should consider where it's coming from - is it a helping voice or a hindering voice. Sometimes voices come from a place of self doubt and some from negative beliefs about your abilities - these voices can be challenged using positive self talk. If you believe these voices are real voices, spoken by an entity other than yourself, I would consider going to speak to a mental health professional to see where these voices are coming from.
