The best way to live in the moment is to be mindful. Be aware of your surroundings and use all of your senses.

Simply put, do not worry too much about the future. Do what you want to do now, as opposed to doing it later.

It's a matter of physics. The past is static and unchangable. I can learn from it, and use that knowledge for future issues, but even the future is in a constant state of flux. I can therefore only truly deal with what is going on at this very moment, taking things one minute, one hour, or one day at a time.

Breathing is a powerful tool. And your senses in general. Whenever you feel the mind wander, focus on your breathing. Is is shallow? Deep? Try and focus on breathing deeply and calmly. Focus on the sounds, smells. All your senses can get you right back to the now if you focus on what they experience. Then it is all about keep getting back to the focus, because the mind has a habit of wandering. It is practice. The more you practice, the more you teach a new habit

I live in the moment by recognizing how beautiful the things that create my life are and how grateful I am to experience extraordinary moments with the people who love me.

Live life slowly enough to savor the good times. Actually talk to people to get to know them. Ask questions. Keep a journal.

This is something I struggle with as well, but I find that it's easier to do when you practice mindfulness. Start small. You can't completely overhaul your life. Incorporate new habits one at a time, instead of all once. :) Mindfulness…Put your phone down every now and then and look around at the world around you. Cherish the people that inhabit your life. Notice sensory details in your everyday activities. Change up your routine a bit—nothing drastic, something little. Meditate. Smile and laugh more often. Practice gratitude. Perhaps you can do an Examen—it's sort of a religious thing, but you can take the religion out of it and when you do that, it boils down to analyzing your day, what you did, how you felt, and where the you saw good in the world. Again, put down the phone and see the world :)

You have to let go of your anxiety, be grateful, enjoy time with your loved ones, and appreciate the little things. Remember that some things are out of your control and you can find solutions for things that are in your control!

Being in the moment 100% of the time is basically impossible. It is natural for us to dream about the past and worry about the future. What helps to stay in the moment is to focus on it. Give what you are doing your attention. Cooking a meal, playing a game, taking a walk, talking to a friend. If you give it your attention and enjoy you'll forget about even trying to live in the moment. You'll just do it.
