what i would do is distract my mind to something more healthy every time he does come to mind. I would write, sing or even draw. Talk to a friendly peer, or a trustworthy adult.

Surviving breakups can be hard. Sometimes after a long time, your ex can still be stuck in you mind. Distractions can always help forget things of the past, but it isn't always easy.

Trying to get someone off your mind can be really hard because trying to think about how to get them off your mind will only make you think of them more. When you find yourself thinking of him, the worst thing to do would be beating yourself up for it. The second you get mad at yourself, you will be more inclined to think about it. Allowing your mind to process the thoughts and feelings, but shifting your attention to something small like what is going on around you will slowly help your mind think of something else. Keeping busy can help if you are truly engaged in what you are doing. Your mind will focus on different things easily when it feels it has the freedom to do so. Remember not to try and force your mind to think of something else. For me personally, I find that trying that only makes it worse. Good luck!

Try and find a hobby you like, and stick with it. This usually helps forgot about things! Relaxing is another way to go. Take a hot shower or read your favorite blog.

Hang out with friends, do things that you enjoy. Start a garden, go bike riding, join the gym! It's good to deal with the sadness of losing a love and accept the way you feel. But things happen for a reason. Do things for you!

Take a deep breath and remember how you were before you even knew him :) No matter how much he charms you or how cute he is, just STOP and think about yourself :)

Distract yourself. And by distractions I mean do something you love - something you've been thinking of doing for a long time but never getting round to it. It'll be difficult, but it is possible. Best of luck to you.

I mostly hate television, but if you have the opportunity, watch shows! Attempting to discontinue your thoughts of someone, maybe just for a little while, preoccupy yourself with other things. Maybe stay away from music and it's very sensual meanings. Television is the best thing to do. Doodling could also help. Good luck!

Simply occupy your mind with happier thoughts. Watch a movie that makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. Delete every single physical evidence of his existence in your life. Study until your eyes are so tired you don't even have time to think late at night because you will fall asleep as soon as you put the book down.
