Avoid caffeine. Caffeine and other stimulants can increase tremors. Use alcohol sparingly, if at all. Some people notice that their tremors improve slightly after they drink alcohol, but drinking isn't a good solution. ... Learn to relax. ... Make lifestyle changes. Essential tremor is a nervous system (neurological) disorder that causes involuntary and rhythmic shaking. It can affect almost any part of your body, but the trembling occurs most often in your hands — especially when you do simple tasks, such as drinking from a glass or tying shoelaces. There is no cure for essential tremor, but treatments can provide symptom relief and help improve quality of your life. It sounds like your shaking hands are bothering you. Shaky hands can stem from a lot of different external (and internal!) causes, perhaps outlining how you're feeling or what situations you're in when you notice your hands shaking. From there, you can narrow the list of potential 'hand-shaking triggers'. You can then ask yourself these questions: Are my hands shaking because of an emotion that I'm feeling? (Anxiety, anger, fear...) Why am I feeling this emotion? (is it cold? Are there a lot of people around? Is something making me upset?). Once you've narrowed the list of possible reasons down, then you could look into ways of preventing or minimising it :))
