Paranoia can be very daunting and difficult to cope with. Sometimes it helps to have someone help you deal with your concerns. If I have a paranoid thought, I will call a friend and she can help me assess how valid it really is. That usually helps me- along with some relaxation exercises. Remember: "Don't believe everything you think."

One tip I learned in a psychology class is to rationalize with yourself. If you paranoid that a noise was someone breaking in, remind yourself that that is unlikely.

Rationalize anything that makes you feel sucpicious and stresses you out. Talk about it with somone mature and trustworthy. They will not judge you, but help you see what you're exaggerating about.

The more you obsess over something the more you make it true! You should always throw in a positive thought every time you get this feeling. Ask yourself what is the postive here instead of seeing the negatives right away:)

Being paranoid is something in the mind. Like most things. When looking at a cup of water, you can either think it's a gorgeous cup and the water looks delicious or you can think that the design is awful and it is filled with poison. Perspective is everything. I think trying to train yourself to always think the positive and not always think that the negative outcome will always happen will help you feel more relaxed. It is difficult though; the brain is a place that loves to go wild. Don't let it fester though. Good luck. Realise that you are in control of your perceptions. It's amazing how you can literally change how you view something from one minute to the next.

Try to catch yourself. If you find your mind drifting to paranoia, breathe and try to replace the negative assumptions and thoughts with something more positive - rationality is the key

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
