Every-time you don't smoke when you have the urge to, reward yourself. Get some ice-cream, watch an episode of your favorite show.

First week, try to smoke 2 cigarettes less/day than usually. 2nd week 2 less than that, and then you continue removing 2 cigarettes a day every week until you've stopped completely.

I quit cold turkey, and started chewing gum or eating shelled sunflower seeds every time I had an urge to smoke. For me it's hard to break the habit of the motion - I get used to having something to do with my hands and mouth, so I have to have something that gives me a simulation of that. Try it!

Avoid cigarettes altogether, at every chance you get. I've recently stopped smoking and I've found that just the smell of one can give me a craving. If you used to go outside to smoke, maybe on a break at work, avoid doing that, regardless of whether you smoke or not. Change your routine and give yourself something else to do like having a snack at the times where you would have had a cigarette. Also, try to keep your distance from anyone nearby who is smoking to avoid the smell tempting you.

for a start you should count how many cigarettes you are smoking per day. try to decrese the number day after day. when you feel the need to smoke do things where your hands will be used for example swimming, exercise, hold a baby, play with child and things like that. try to not be with people who smoke or ask them to not smoke. remember and warning yourself how much bad is smoking for your health. tell yourself that its not your free will its just your bad habit which needs to be healed. if you have family warn yourself that smoking is bad for their health too. you can try hypnotheraphy too.

Well I learned that smoking takes up alot of time and when you stop you just have this huge gap of time on your hands with nothing to do. Alot of people go to food for that gap coverage which isnt always a good idea. I would come up with a hobby or an activity to keep you interested. If you have no interests take the time to find one.

To get motivated, you need a powerful, personal reason to quit. It may be to protect your family from secondhand smoke. Or lower your chance of getting lung cancer, heart disease, or other conditions. Or to look and feel younger. Choose a reason that is strong enough to outweigh the urge to light up.
