Be honest. This is the best thing you can do. Be honest about your symptoms, why are you seeing them and confide in them with your fears by asking questions. Let's say you are with your GP and have some weird symptoms ask them "Could this be a symptom of ...because I am very concerned". As a person that suffers from health anxiety that is the best thing you can do. This and therapy.

It's important to be open with your doctor and ask for what you need. It's also important to find a doctor that you feel comfortable having these conversations with. They may not be the right doctor for you and that's ok. Don't be afraid to have an honest conversation about your expectations and what you hope to get out of treatment.

The best thing you can do is describe your situation to the best of your ability, and tell them straight-up what you need from them.

You should be absolutely clear about what you need, the more specific you can be the more they can help you. Not all doctors have a background in mental health and are not experts in complex needs. Talk to a therapist who will work with you to understand you needs and create a treatment plan which your doctor will understand. Give them as much information as you can about your thoughts and feelings as well as information on what has changed in your daily life due to your condition.
Another helpful tip is to talk slowly, succinctly and try to keep emotions out if your conversation, it will make you easier to understand.

You need to know that what matters most is you, and to always be completely honest with the doctor and yourself. If something’s not right or you feel like no progress is being made, don’t be afraid to speak up! Your well-being is the priority, and you won’t offend the doctor by being honest. And, there are plenty of doctors out there. Sometimes we just don’t click with the first doctor we try. Honesty is key in helping yourself and your doctor do the best possible to help you. :)

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
