Yes, especially when reality bites. Sometimes it is better to just look away and try to imagine yourself in a far away land where heartaches, depression, anxiety, physical pains and anguish do not exist.

I do, it normally happens during a depressive episode or after an anxiety attack. Sometimes it'll happen for no reason, but it seems to be connected to overwhelming emotional experiences

Absolutely I feel detached from reality at times. I dissociate, and it can feel like an intense daydream, or like that reality is in the present. When this happens, I have to get space. That can be so frustrating for me. I want to connect and be around people, and when I am not feeling attached to myself and to the present, it is not possible to do. Cold water, whether drinking or splashing my face, helps. I thought dissociating was only for soldiers with PTSD. That is not true, though. PTSD can look different to a lot of people.
