Sure it can. Anxiety and depression can leave you feeling too tired or drained to do anything.. You can also lose your appetite and eat less. I would recommend exercise and a healthy diet for weight loss though.

It could. Getting the feeling of anxiety and depression can cause a loss of appetite which can lead to weight loss. Always have to remember to eat something small so your body can regenerate and not shut down. If you stop eating it can actually make you gain weight because then your stomach will store and eat at the fats.

From my personal experience, these are definitely common causes of weight loss. After something as difficult as a breakup, we often enter a state of depression- this is completely normal (unless this depression persists and worsens overtime or interferes with your performance in work/school or your personal relationships. In this case, it is best to seek help). When we become depressed, we lose interest in things that we once enjoyed doing. This can also mean neglecting our needs such as personal hygeine- and eating. You may just not be in the mood for eating because of how sad you are. This can cause weight loss. On the other hand, it could also cause weight gain for some people. When we are depressed, we often seek solace in things like watching TV, sleeping, and eating. Depression weakens us, and things that will benefit you- like exercise and healthy eating- will not necessarily be something you are interested in. So it is understandable that you will not make the best choices for your health. People often find comfort in eating junk foods, which can cause them to gain weight.

Anxiety can indeed lead to weight loss, it causes next to mental stress also physical exhaustion and leads to depression. Due to the lack of motivation you can also lose appetite not to mention trouble sleeping. When suffering from anxiety and depression it is important to keep a regular eating schedule, make it a routine even to keep some energy. A good balanced diet can also help to overcome anxiety, or at least give the power to get started.

It most definitely can; during times of great distress and depression, you may experience one of two changes: (1) you eat more to compensate for your lack of energy, causing you to gain weight, or (2) you eat less due to your lack of appetite, causing you to lose weight instead.

Not directly (obviously), but anxiety and depression from anything can very commonly cause one to lose appetite, which in turn causes weight loss.

Yes, it can be that you've got appetite changes and that can have an effect on your weight. Not wanting to eat or wanting to eat more as a way of comfort can have a lot to do with depression and dealing with a break up.
