In this situation, I would comfort the friend and offer helpful suggestions to improve their anxiety.

Learn a few grounding techniques you can use to stop them from spiraling further or even calm them. Learn a few simple breathing excercises too. These aren't a lot of work. Grounding can be asking them to name every red object around them. Something that takes their attention but isn't too hard. Another good way is to establish eye contact if you can. As for breathing, my go to is 4sec inhale, 3 sec hold, 7sec exhale. And of course, take them seriously, listen, and know that they can't control their attacks.

Just be there for them, even if what they need is space during the attack. Remember there's no off-switch for anxiety and it's something they have to live with daily.

You have to be patient. You already understood that it's not their fault for the anxiety and panic attacks, so being patient and accepting their behaviour and their fears is the most important thing. Be supportive and always try to be there for them!

You can be a good friend for someone who has anxiety and panic attacks by listening to what they have to say and being their for them. They need someone to know that it will be okay and that it won't be as bad as they think it will be.You can just hang out with them and listen to what they have to say or just hug them. You could also get them flowers if they are having a bad day or their favorite food or ask them what would make them feel better in their time of need. All a person wants with anxiety and panic attacks is someone to be there for them.

Show empathy, sympathy and listen. You do not have to have solutions, just being there is more than often enough. Do not act like you know what they are going through, ask them what you can do for them specifically, and let them know that you are there for them. If you can, relate to them, but do not make the situation about you, just let them know that they are not alone in this, other people experience the same type of emotions, they are not strange or weird for having a hard time doing certain things. Be a friend, be understanding.

Let the know you are there for them! It is important to make them feel grounded. Cater to their needs, and watch over them. Look for any signs beforehand. It definitely is not the easiest task, however it is not impossible. You can do this, and by asking this question already makes you a good friend. Being caring and compassionate for someone you care about is great. Remind them you care for them. Anxiety and Panic Attacks are hard to deal with, so once you know the signs try to prevent the triggers. Again, It is not easy, but definitely not impossible.

One thing that can help be a good friend to someone with anxiety is knowing what helps them calm down. And if they don't have a routine that works maybe help them find something that works. Offer a safe place for them to vent and know that you are someone they can rely on when they're feeling anxious. Let them know that not all things can be handled alone and it's okay to lean on someone when things seem too much. Just make sure you take care of yourself too and don't help if you're not able to, your mental health is important too.

The Facebook "Seen" message gives me a lot of anxiety! When I see that the person has "seen" the message, but does not reply, I start thinking about all the possible reasons why they would 'ignore' me... Does anyone else feel this? If so, how do you cope?
