I once asked a friend of mine this same question. She told me that there was some part of me which did not feel worthy. It stung when she said that, but I thought about what she said. She was right, and knowing that made me angry enough to get up and get help, because I am worthy. And you are too!

The fact that you are here willing to talk about this is already a big step towards being helped, so you have that to be proud of! Now, I don't know why you are not getting help right now, but whatever the reason is, maybe it will help if you talk about it, and you can do that on 7 Cups. And then, in case you feel overwhelmed about seeing a therapist, maybe try reaching out to friends of family who you can trust or a support group first? Respecting yourself is important, so doing things at a pace you are comfortable with is probably a good idea.

I think that one of the main reasons that individuals are reluctant to seek help is because we do not want to admit we have a problem, even when we do admit to ourselves that we are struggling and need help often self stigma creeps in, a natural effect of living in a world where 'strength' emotional and physical is held up and percieved 'weakness' despised, even if we are able to step past there two barriers we sometimes have the views of others to consider and are concerned about there reactions.

Sometimes, we aren't ready for help, but when we are we will seek it out and embrace it. There may be times when we feel that outside help will not work for us. However, one day you wake up and are willing to take any and all help you can get. Don't let the questions of getting help bring you down further. Take your time, you will know when you are ready.

I feel the same way, mostly because I fear being vulnerable as well as not really trusting anyone. But asking for help is not "showing weakness", it's actually quite brave to battle your own demons.
