I think rehab experiences vary greatly. The first thing that was concentrated on in a therapeutic group was to break through any denial. group sessions were held throughout the day from 9 till 5. There was much focus on talking about feelings both past and present. One becomes emotionally raw. Self exploration is encouraged, Lessons are taught about basic life skills and coping mechanisms. One is given a healthy diet and must participate in regular exercise. Proper sleep hygiene is stressed. Relationships are explored, Much is taught about how different the post rehab sober life will need to be. Triggering persons, places and things must be avoided. The experience was much like being broken down then rebuilt. It was worthwhile.
