The simple answer is that some people are more prone to addiction than others. Besides, perhaps you are not in a place to know whether other people struggle with their alcoholism? Some people are quite good at concealing it.

Alcoholism is composed of both physical and emotional dependency. The biggest reason is that an average person can drink as much as they want to, because they stop wanting to drink when it begins to be detrimental for them. An alcoholic cannot stop themselves when it begins to harm their bodies or their personal lives because they are already addicted.

The key to drinking is moderation, and being around those that drink in moderation as well. And drinking as much as one wants and not being an alcoholic isn't the case--many people drink to excess and end up being an alcoholic. I enjoy an alcoholic beverage once in a while, but the major thing is taking it slowly, and in between drinks is drinking a glass of water to stay hydrated.

An alcoholic is someone who can't stop drinking. One drink is too many. They may drink at parties or alone at home. There's something in their brain that makes them addicted to alcohol. It can even be called an allergy, something to avoid for your own health. Some people can drink all they want and stop, others can't help drinking, they can't stop. It's all about the brain.

It's not about judging someone else or their alcohol consumption, some people may be alcoholics but in life we can't change others, only ourselves so focusing on how much someone else is drinking is just going to make us draw unrealistic comparisons.

There are three kind of drinker 1, social,2, heavy 3, alcoholics. social drinkers know when they feel the buss and stop for days without drinking. heavy drinkers are those, who can drink large amount everyday and can stop suddenly and for a long period of time without any problem. then they are alcoholics, who can not stop drinking. they can not function without drinking. their life is nothing but alcohol, some say its genetic. Alcoholism is presently understood as both a physical and psychological addiction with complex etiology and sequelae. It is commonly thought that there is often a genetic predisposition. the question is not entirely accurate. in its phraseology, however, as it does not distinguish between alcohol use, abuse, dependence, and addiction. that everyone can "drink as much as they want" is, in fact, a fallacy.
