I give you kudos for receiving prenatal care! That's so important for a healthy baby/ pregnancy! Understanding what an incredibly scary situation this might be for you. Will I go to jail? Will they take my baby? What will they do? Those are scary things wonder. And I imagine the turmoil it causes inside you. Talking to your doctor is absolutely the responsible thing to do. He could give you direction and help you make a plan to continue with an alcohol/drug free pregnancy! I know its scary....and I know you care about this baby. You got this!

You should try to do it directly in person. It may be difficult to do so, but remember that your doctor has both your and your baby's best interest in mind. Also your doctor is not allowed to judge and legally can't tell anyone else without your consent.

In my experience, doctors and therapists of any kind are the number one kinds of people that you should be open, honest, and transparent to. They are the ones that can help with this problem and take steps to help fixing the issues. I know that, if I wasn't open and honest to my doctor, I wouldn't be as healthy as I am today. Of course, I am not as near to perfect in health as I can/want, but I definitely want to thank my doctors for their help. They are not police, they are health professionals! Trust. If one can't help you, there are many others to find that can!
