Types of Treatment The two best-established treatments for ADHD are medications, particularly stimulants, and behavioral interventions, which aim to provide regular rewards and incentives to motivate improved performance and decrease disruptive behavior. Both types of treatment promote self-regulation. Medications alter neurotransmitter levels in the brain, thereby decreasing impulsivity and enhancing motivation. It can take several tries to determine the right dosage and type of medication, and regular monitoring of the medication is recommended. Common side effects of stimulants include sleep problems, decreased appetite, and slight increase in blood pressure. Some side effects may be avoided by adjusting the timing or dose of the medication. If you are considering behavioral therapy, you can contact a specialist. You can contact me for a lighter start before the specialist.

I think that Acceptance and Committment therapy may help. This is a popular form of therapy that may be considered as a form of mindfulness therapy. You can find a lot of literature about this therapy online especially if you search the google scholar pages. I have, personally used this therapy in my studies and found it to be very helpful. It can help with many forms of mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression; therefore, it is likely that it could also help with ADHD. There are some forms of literature supporting this that I have read recently.
