I wouldn’t say it’s for no reason. Memories from our childhood are so powerful. The impact our childhood has on us is profound and simultaneously, commonly overlooked. I’m sorry you have to relive those moments in such a sacred space- your sleep, the place where we ought to have peace. Do you think about what happened while you’re awake? Often? Sometimes? Does it distract you, or do you find you don’t consciously acknowledge it? Does it hold you back from having happiness, or positive relationships with others? Regardless of your answers, it may seem it would be beneficial to seek out a professional to help you go through these experiences, and the emotions tied to them. My heart is with you, best wishes.

Sometimes, if you avoid your bad childhood in everyday life, or try to forget/repress it, your childhood will come out through your dreams. Sometimes you seemingly don’t do anything and it will appear. Dreams of your childhood- bad or good- are normal and should be thought of as such. If they are keeping you awake or send you into a panic attack, then that is not something that you should simply hope goes away, Maybe seek therapy or confide in a trusted adult. Sometimes just talking about the memories of your bad childhood will help ease the dreams into becoming something happier and healthier for you.
Thats a tough question. Have you had anything specific happen recently that maybe triggered memories from your past? I know sometimes we have instances where we encounter someone fron the past that will bring up bad memories that we may have hidden away for years whether it be with flashbacks or even bad dreams or nightmares. I hope things get better for you soon! I know when the past comes up it can be difficult for some people (myself included) and sometimes it is hard to admit whats going on. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need to chat. There is always someone here for you and always someone out there that cares! 💖
