I know that the decision to go to therapy can be a difficult one. I've been doing this for over a decade and I've worked with a lot of people who never thought they'd talk to

Yes! Dreams are an interesting topic in science, and overall, they're an unknown mystery filled with wonder. When having highly realistic dreams, it is considered "lucid dreaming". Everyone's lucid dreaming can look different to them, but is generally described as it being highly vivid, being able to have control in the dream, and being aware you are dreaming. There is also dreams called "false awakening", which is a type of lucid dream where you believe you have woken up, but are still actually dreaming, which can be a bit scary for some. Many times, having hyper-realistic dreams/lucid dreaming can lead to sleep paralysis (your mind being awake but your body still being asleep) can be extremely frightening to many (I get it all the time, it's awful!)
It is very normal to have realistic or even vivid dreams. Dreams are believed to usually be based off of fears or things that are important in one's life. It is even believed by some scientists that deja vu is actually somebody living out something they dreamed happened before. Sometimes we dream about just things that happen every day, while other times it is random and very unrealistic dreams or even nightmares. We all have many dreams a night, even though we do not remember most of them, or sometimes feel like we did not dream at all.

I believe it is very normal to have dreams that feel realistic and like it actually happened. I have personally experienced this and honestly it confuses me a lot and it can get annoying sometimes. Maybe your dreams are something that you would do in real life or that there is a big possibility of you doing it. There may be times that you wake up in the middle of the night for a short amount of time like a few seconds but you eventually falls back to sleep right after and that short amount of memory can feel weird and unrealistic. It can be some reasons that you feel unsure of certain thoughts or events that you had.
