Perfect therapy for people who need help. I would like to say, I never can imagine it could be possible to heal people like that

I have been struggling with BED for about a year and a half on and on and more generally, using food as a distraction / comfort source for my whole life. I'm finding it so difficult to stop because I've gained a lot of weight from binge eating, and so am retreating from social events because of it (im normally quite slim and am embarrased of my friends / potential guys seeing how much ive gained) How can I try to lose weight without restricting as this leads to bingeing!?
For me, several days. I take a really long time, and sometimes I'll crave certain binge foods for months. (Peanut M&Ms, king size or pop tarts) After awhile, if you don't cave in, they go away.
You basically have to tell yourself no, this isn't what I should do, it isn't healthy and it doesn't help me, if not you're just going to keep doing it. You have to want to not do it.
1-2 months minimum. To overcome binge eating cravings you have to start by each day reducing the amount of food you eat. It is periodical, you can't simply do it all at once.
I don't think one ever truly gets over binge eating. Like any addiction, it will be present for the rest of the sufferer's life. Like other addictions though, we can get better at managing those cravings and use skills to combat our moments of weakness. With practice, mastering the skill of managing cravings becomes habit, and the cravings seem to lessen with time.
Since binge eating is considered a mental illness, one will never completely overcome it. However the cravings will decrease in intensity and frequency with time and proper treatment.
