I have helped and am helping people cope with loss, divorce, anguish and parenting. Depression is also a major issue that comes up.

Absolutely. Depression is you're body not getting the right amount of chemicals such as serotonin. But that does not mean you have to feel depression all the time. There are many different kinds of depression and stages someone can go through.

Most definatly. Its very common to both be happy and not be happy at the same time and also to give in to happiness when one is not actually at all happy and much more. How come you are looking at yourself in such a strict emotional manner?

You can most definitely be depressed but happy at times. You may have seasonal depression. Sometimes you don't need to have depression to feel depressed :)
Depression is characterized by a low mood overall, but it doesn't mean that you can't experience moments of happiness sometimes! Experiencing positive emotions doesn't make your depression less "real". It's natural for it to change over time! Depression also affects different individuals in different ways; there's not a specific set of symptoms that apply to every person with depression 100% of the time. Depression is a diagnosable mental illness that is diagnosed by a general set of criteria, but a person doesn't have to check off every single box! People are complex, and their mental health is too. Every experience is valid and deserves to be heard.
Yes, it does happen sometimes I have experienced it , there will be a situation where you feel depressed and dejected but at the same time small things make you happy for the moment.
Depression will continue but happiness fades away soon.
It's not that easy to come out of depression but if we keep trying our best to come out of that and take small steps like doing yoga, meditation, reading books listening to some good music or motivational talks,
Or sharing our feelings with a trustworthy person,
Small steps towards a wellness journey make us happy, so take action rather than being depressed
