I still have feelings for my ex after so many years, why is this?

I completely understand how you feel. Sometimes we still have feeling for those we truly once loved because we were not ready to let them go or we are afraid of somebody else “taking themâ€. This is a completely natural feeling and thought and lots of people experience this feeling. It may cause stress or sadness, however their are lots of kind people that you can talk to on 7 cups, feel free to talk to any of us. I know that i totally understand you. Unfortuatelly i have no suggestions how to calm these feelings, have a wonderful day.
Trust me, I've still lingered those feelings even if I don't see him! It could possibly mean that you're searching for a closure. Be aware that closures are not for everyone! I didn't get mine, but I learned to love myself without seeing him nor speaking to him.

It's not uncommon to have those feelings. Maybe your ex had some sort of positive impact on your life.
Getting really close with a person is special and will always be in your heart. Just let it be there. Time will heal, just have patience. I have experienced this, and it's not fun. You just wanna move on and not think about them constantly, but it's normal and it will go away eventually even though its many years ago. There can be some unspoken issues, and maybe its time for you two to talk about these things to fully move on? If this person meant a lot to you, then you will probably always have a place for them in your heart but they will not remain as important as they are right now.
I understand what you are feeling currently. This happens since you’ve invested a lot of trust and effort in yourself relationship and it get extremely hard to let go. But moving forward and letting go of our past is very important. Having feelings for ex is completely ok. You’d have definitely had a lot of good time with them. Being grateful for your experiences and learning from mistakes and moving forward is all a part of your progress. I can say this to you because I had the same experience and it’s completely fine to feel this way. But it’s important for us to not dwell on it and to try and let go.
