I can't help the thoughts that plague me through the day. It isn't really something you can control. Even if you consciously put those worries to the back of your mind, you still feel uncomfortable--for me, I physically feel it in my chest, and my hands begin to shake. Like your body won't calm down until you acknowledge what you've done wrong. At night is the worst. Sometimes the thoughts come so strongly I cannot fall asleep.

This is because of your intelligence! You are capable of multitasking thoughts and feelings! People who are bombarded by overwhelming thoughts tend to be more intelligent :)

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. To avoid such a storm, maybe try asking yourself questions and writing down all of your thoughts and go through them one by one to get to the core of the thought/problem.

One reason could be that you live or exist in surroundings that actually inspire your sub-conscious mind to think the way you know. The conscious mind taps on the sub-conscious mind thus enabling you to think philosophically. What is meant is that you could be living in surroundings like lets say a place resembling a hermit's place.Another reason could be that you experience extreme sadness. Sadness causes the mind to think that way too. It helps the mind think more clearly.

It's like a stream of water, a waterfall, a river, a sea or an ocean. As water flows in these water bodies, so do the thoughts in our mind.

You are a caring person who have the sense of responsibility. You care about details and other things. It's ok to think as long as it reaches you to somewhere like improving yourself or your relationships, but if it prevents you from feeling comfort then stop it.

thoughts don't stop but we can start to replace the judgmental, critical ones with thinking: what need am I trying to meet? How am I feeling? what do I want to accomplish? what inspires me? what do I want to create?

You could be overthinking things or just a very quick paced person, it's not uncommon and definitely not something you should worry about unless it is affecting you negatively. Overthinking is one of the symptoms of anxiety, so if you feel like you are constantly critiquing everything and anything then you might have anxiety. It's nothing to worry about most people have at least a bit of anxiety. The way you can get through this storm of thoughts is to breathe deeply and force yourself to picture a black slate and prioritise things that you are the most important and should be your focus and cast away any other side thoughts. Mediation or yoga classes cupid also help.

I find myself having a storm of thoughts because I typically deal with a range of emotions on any given day.

Maybe it is because you tend to overthink things and it is hard to control your thoughts without thinking of something else and then something else pops into your mind and it keeps happening until there's a whole lot of thoughts that it is starting to affect you.

Because you are human being and unless these thought are conflicting with your own personal life, in which case you must seek professional help, you'll be just fine. Sometimes we over think things and our thoughts get all messy and mixed up because we're going through some hard time or encountering a lot of changes. We gotta try to take it easy and put our thoughts in order and do our best to clear out minds

Sounds like your mental pantry is full! Look up bullet journaling! Or really any type of journaling. Our minds are super busy and there will always be a stream of consciousness growing. That is typical. But if you feel the thoughts are getting too fast and too furious I know tons of people have benifeited from journaling. Also let your physician know, you may have some underlying issues that need to be addressed. Best wishes!

Because I’m a thinker and I worry to much about things I can’t change and think less about things I can.
