It means that they have a drinking problem. You need to remove yourself from the situation and get your spouse help.

It means that you are in position that you need to remove yourself from. There is no excuse, reason or justification for domestic violence. If extensive marriage and family counseling is not an option, you need to leave indefinitely. Yes, it will be hard. Yes, it will break up your family. It is, however, the best thing that you can do for yourself and your loved ones. If you feel like your life is ever in danger during an altercation with a significant other, please do not hesitate to call law enforcement or 9-1-1

It means they have a problem and need professional help, and that you need to get out of there. It is not your fault, and you need to put your well-being first.
